Built in Florida, staffed by American crew and officers, and flying the American flag, Yorktown is a nice home away from home when cruising to Belize and Guatemala. The ship, formerly know as Spirit of Yorktown and Yorktown Clipper, accommodates no more than 138 guests in 69 exterior cabins. The atmosphere aboard is warm, friendly and informal. Setting this ship apart is its experienced team of expedition staff and lecturers. Big names in archaeology, science, marine biology, ornithology and Mayan culture accompany each departure so you'll be traveling in the company of experts.
Common Areas aboard Yorktown
The spacious, comfortable Observation Lounge on the Lounge Deck is ideal for conversations and presentations from accompanying naturalists and marine biologists. Bar service is available here, as is satellite television, a DVD player and two flat-screen TVs. Destination-related books and two computer terminals are also available in the Observation Lounge.
The large dining room on the Main Deck - where all guests are accommodated in a single, unassigned seating - is surrounded by large windows. Also on the Main Deck find guided bridge tours, the hospitality desk and a swimming platform for use while the ship is at anchor.
The Sun Deck features chairs for enjoying the sun, as well as al fresco dining. The Promenade Deck, half of which is covered, also features deck chairs.
Public restrooms are located on the Main and Lounge Deck embarkation areas.
Meals aboard Yorktown
All meals are served aboard ship, including complimentary house wine, beer and soft drinks with lunch and dinner. Alcoholic beverages other than wine and beer can be purchased with lunch and dinner. Welcome and farewell cocktail receptions will be provided, and special diets are easily accommodated with advance notice.
The water in each cabin is safe to drink. Yorktown is equipped with a state-of-the-art purification system and holding tanks. There are also complimentary bottles of water in each cabin's mini refrigerator.
Activities aboard Yorktown
Soak in the sun on the large Sun or Promenade Decks or enjoy swimming of the Main Deck's platform while at anchor. Prepaid internet access is available onboard. Swimming, snorkeling, hiking and wildlife viewing are the primary activities enjoyed aboard Yorktown and on excursions.
Laundry Service aboard Yorktown
Limited laundry services are available and handled by a crew member. Please allow up to 48 hours for laundry to be returned. Stewards and stewardesses can arrange same-day pressing service. Dry-cleaning services are not available aboard Yorktown. Laundry rates will be listed on the laundry order form in each cabin.
Cabins aboard Yorktown
All cabins on the Yorktown feature an exterior view and a private bathroom. Each cabin is equipped with a writing desk, hairdryer, toiletries, bottled water, mini refrigerator, closet space and under-bed storage, and air conditioning. Beach towels are available and distributed as needed.
The electric current aboard Yorktown is 110 volts (AC). Outlets are designed for American-style plugs.
Sleeping arrangements include the following options: two lower beds, two lower beds that convert to a queen, and queen beds. Superior cabins on the Sun Deck have a walk-out balcony.
