AdventureSmith Explorations’ Beagle review includes a detailed description of the sail boat including deck plans and a photo gallery. Our crew has been aboard the Beagle in the Galapagos Islands. Please read our Beagle review below then contact our Galapagos cruise experts to compare the Cachalote with other Galapagos sailboats and cruises.
The Beagle is named after HMS Beagle, in which Charles Darwin made his famous voyage to the Galapagos Islands, and later wrote his theory of evolution based on his findings in this extraordinary archipelago.
A magnificent 105-foot twin screw steel-hulled brigantine with teak decks and beautifully designed interiors, The Beagle is in a class by itself among sailing yachts in the Galapagos. She was built by Cubow Ltd. in Woolwich, England, in the 1970’s and registered with Lloyd’s (number Y 195095), but her designer is unknown. She’s been a charter vessel in the Islands for over a decade and has been substantially refurbished under her current ownership.
Recently awarded the Smart Voyager Certificate for adherence to sound conservation practices, the 14 passenger steel hulled Brigantine Schooner Beagle is a spacious and romantic sailboat to cruise the
Galapagos Islands. Completely refurbished in 2004, the M/S Beagle features teak decks and a charming interior. Below deck are 7 air conditioned cabins accommodating 13 or 14 passengers, each with a double lower bunk and a single upper, and its private bathroom with hot water shower and flush lavatory.
A cruise on The Beagle means hands-on attention to your needs and comfort, and even home cooked Ecuadorian fare. A crew of six plus one naturalist guide will ensure you comfort while illuminating the fascinating natural history and wildlife of the
Galapagos Islands . The M/S Beagle is the perfect choice for family holidays, special interest groups, or other special adventures such as honeymoons and anniversaries seeking affordable Galapagos cruising.
