Snorkeling and diving is a fun and exciting way to experience undersea reefs, coral, and fishes. Snorkeling is included in many of our adventures and is suitable for all ages and abilities with no experience necessary. Our guides will assist those who have not snorkeled before and are trained in marine biology pointing out countless fish, coral, rays and other undersea creatures. In most locations SCUBA diving is available upon request and for an additional fee, and requires that all participants be certified to dive. Underwater reefs, mangrove and other environments are some of the most foreign natural environments we explore. Itís almost like another planet down there. On our snorkel and diving excursions expect to see colorful fish, eels, unusual coral reefs and strange invertebrates. On some snorkel and dive excursions you may witness rays, sharks, octopus, or even a chance to swim with sea lions or dolphins in the wild. For guests interested in undersea exploration our snorkel and dive adventures are a fun and exciting way to experience unusual natural environments.
A day of snorkeling can take many forms such as discovering the reef in front of your beachfront cabana, exploring off a small boat on an expedition cruise, a single day excursion aboard a dedicated snorkel or dive boat visiting several sites, or snorkeling from a kayak on one or our paddle adventures. Water tends to be calm and clearest early in the day providing flat water and the best visibility. You can snorkel as much or as little as you like. Full day snorkel excursions will include lunch on the beach and return to your accommodations in the afternoon. SCUBA diving tends to be more structured with two to three dives each day on a dedicated dive boat.
While no previous experience is necessary, travelers wishing to explore with mask and snorkel must be able to swim. Floating calmly on the surface you will see more undersea life than splashing or swimming. In some cases you may be required to climb out of the water on a ladder into a boat. SCUBA divers should be in good physical condition and possess a valid dive certification card. Travelers without a certification card will not be allowed to dive.
