A sea kayaking adventure is far more than just paddling. Sea kayaking allows us to explore up close environments that are unreachable by any other means. In a sea kayak we are able to glide among coral reefs, penetrate sea caves, approach wildlife without disturbance and encounter other boating cultures. Sea kayaking is the perfect way to experience the solitude of wilderness where very often the only sound is the ripple of your paddle in the water. Settle into the therapeutic rhythm of paddling and experience a unique way of exploring our world.

Our kayaking trips are designed to provide safe, fun and adventurous wilderness experiences for all participants. Over the years we have encountered many travelers hesitant to try kayaking because of images on television showing kayakers careening over waterfalls. Nothing could be further from the truth and we have found that once exposed to this unique method of exploration many people become lifelong paddlers. Sea kayaks are comfortable, stable craft designed for gliding smoothly on flat water. Prior to each sea kayaking adventure experienced guides will conduct a thorough orientation to instruct you in safety precautions, technique and navigation. Almost all our sea kayak adventures are suitable for beginners while expert paddlers will appreciate our top of the line equipment and route selection.

Our first priority is your comfort and safety. Guides are experienced professionals trained in rescue and instruction. Routes are flexible taking into account current weather conditions and wildlife. If conditions are unsafe we’ll find an alternative activity. Although we primarily paddle calm waters, we require that lifejackets be worn at all times on the water. Many trips have a support boat designated to handle emergency situations or if you get tired you can hop on board.

a typical day

The number of hours you spend on the water varies with the trip you choose. Some trips, such as our Expedition Cruises, kayak for a couple of hours as a means to explore away from the mother ship. Other trips are dedicated sea kayak adventures which spend much of the day on the water, stopping for breaks along the way. Rest stops are ample and our pace is designed to maximize exposure to the surroundings, rather than race to the next destination. A long lunch break is always scheduled with time to stretch your legs or take a short hike. In the afternoon either continue paddling or enjoy other activities like hiking, fishing, snorkeling and/or swimming, it all depends on the trip. Return to camp (or lodge, or vessel) in the late afternoon for sunset, a delicious dinner and a great nights sleep.

physical requirements

Sea kayaking is a fun and easy activity suitable for people of all ages and abilities, from the novice paddler to the experienced veteran. It is important to choose a trip that suits your physical condition and prior experience. Our staff can assist with this. Most of our trips do not require previous paddling experience, however your trip will be more enjoyable if you are in reasonable physical shape. You will need to be able to sit with your legs in front of you for at least one hour at a time while in the kayak. Most of our trips spend three to four hours on the water while dedicated sea kayaking trips can spend six or more hours of paddling each day.
