Part of our mission is to give something back to the individuals, communities and environments encountered on every AdventureSmith Explorations trip. We achieve this foremost by booking travelers on expedition cruises and wilderness adventures that offer opportunities to have a meaningful connection with each place and its people. Quite simply, if you connect with and care for a place you will be more willing to advocate for protection.
In 2005, we introduced the industry’s first Carbon-Free Cruising program to offset carbon created as a result of our cruise passengers. In 2010, we partnered with Trees for the Future to plant trees for every land-based AdventureSmith Explorations trip.
We favor small ships, yachts and lodges that are rooted in a regions environment, who hire local people, purchase local goods, contributing to local economies while also maintaining strict leave no trace and sustainable operating practices. Prior to travel we introduce our travelers with a network of grassroots and global nonprofit partners worldwide.

One way we acheive our conservation goals is through connecting our travelers with a network of grassroots and global non profit partners worldwide. AdventureSmith Explorations is proud to work in our destinations with a number of conservation partners in each of the regions we operate. We hope that by introducing our clients to regional conservation partners and their projects we will enhance our travelers experience while making a positive impact on the destination. When you purchase a cruise with AdventureSmith Explorations we have paid to neutralize the impact of harmful greenhouse gasses that were emitted as a result of your cruise. We introduced this initiative, the industry’s first, in 2005. Read more about our program on our Carbon-Free Cruising page.
While our Cabon Free Cruising program and our Trees for the Future assure a minimal impact on your AdventureSmith Exploration, flights are still a major contributor to carbon emmissions. We encourage all travelers to make a contribution to offset the carbon created as a result of their flights. Use our carbon calculator to make your entire trip carbon free.
