carbon free cruising
For those who love a relaxing day at sea, sudden sightings of migrating whales and friendly dolphins, breathtaking sunsets on the open ocean, and unique opportunities to explore new friendships, this voyage is made to order with seven days at sea. Your journey ends on Easter Island, one of the most remote places in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a fascinating study in the rise and fall of a Polynesian culture.

This cruise is one segment of the year long Voyage of the Great Explorers world cruise and is part of Chapter 4: Christopher Columbus — The New World. These five memorable world cruise voyages bring the New World into a new perspective. You’ll cruise the Atlantic coastline, relive American history, island hop in the Caribbean as Columbus did in the 15th century, then you’ll transit the Panama Canal. Your small ship makes it easy to get up-close and personal as you explore the tropical rainforests of Panama, Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Day 1 - Guayaquil, Ecuador
Arive in Guayaquil and check into your included hotel.

Day 2 - Guayaquil, Ecuador
Ecuador’s largest and most populous city, Guayaquil (why-ya-keel) lies at the western bank of the major Guayas River, flowing into the Pacific Ocean at the protected Gulf of Guayaquil. Historically and culturally diverse and fascinating in and of itself, the city serves as the launching place for tours to the magnificent Galápagos Islands. Morning at leisure. Prior to embarkation, enjoy a highlight tour of Guayaquil en route to the ship.

Days 3-9 - At Sea

Day 10 - Easter Island, Chile
Disembark or continue your journey with the next voyage. The isolated island of Rapa Nui (its Polynesian name) is at the southeastern-most point of the Pacific Polynesian triangle. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is most famous for its mysterious and massive 887 stone moai sculptures of volcanic stone from quarries, probably carved between the 10th and 16th centuries. Many still stand; most have toppled over the centuries.
