Wilderness Lodge
Enjoy Belize with kids, parents and grandparents on an active and educational Belize Family Adventure. Family travelers will hike to ancient Mayan ruins, canoe among pristine rain forest on the Macal River and snorkel the world's second largest barrier reef. Explore the rain forest from a family friendly wilderness lodge in Belize's Cayo District and access the reef from a beach resort on the authentic Placencia Peninsula. The Belize Family Adventure is perfect for active families seeking great guides, upscale lodging and worry free Belize family travel.
The Belize Family Adventure includes a children's program filled with active fun and adjusted to match the educational level, physical ability, and curiosity of individual participants between the ages of 6-10 and 11-15. Every family will have their own butterfly hatchery to hatch and release a Blue Morpho butterfly into the jungle. Arts and crafts include weaving palm fans while the children learn about the many uses of the native Cohune Palm. These are only two examples of the many family activities on offer to aspiring young adventurers. Parents appreciate quality time with the kids and time to relax at the spa or choose an active adventure. This family trip to Belize is a culture based environmental program that introduces children and families to the tropical forest in western Belize.
The Belize Family Adventure is also available as a shorter 5 day version for families with limited time to travel to Belize. Or speak with our Belize family travel experts to craft a custom Belize family trip.
Day 1 - Arrive Belize
Upon arrival your family is greeted at the Belize City international airport by our local representative and transferred in an air conditioned vehicle to Belize’s Cayo district. If time allows (flights arriving by noon) the perfect family introduction to Belize is to visit the Belize Zoo (at extra cost). Your base of exploration is Chaa Creek, a 365 acre private rain forest reserve and jungle lodge on the banks of the Macal River in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. The Lodge at Chaa Creek provides a unique rainforest experience while maintaining an unspoiled ambiance and is comprised of comfortable palm-thatched cottage rooms and suites nestled along the riverside in a setting of unmatched beauty and tranquility. Guests can interact with nature by exploring the river and miles of well-maintained trails, Mayan temple sites, and through a myriad of adventure activities. Wildlife abounds, and some 250 species of birds have been sighted within the reserve.
