Long before Europeans were able to sail the high seas, skilled Polynesian mariners had already ventured far into the ocean, exploring and colonizing even the most remote Pacific islands, among them Rapa Nui - more commonly known as Easter Island. This tiny triangle of land was the birthplace of a fascinating civilization who for generations have maintained their ancestor's habits and have kept their traditions alive. As an UNESCO world heritage site, these descendents can be seen today in hundreds of Moai (giant statues sculpted from rock) dotted along the island's breathtaking coast. Visitors from all over come to experience this island’s remoteness, stunning geography and rich culture. This four day exploration of Rapa Nui will allow you to experience all the attraction and mystery while being accommodated in comfort and style.

This 4 day itinerary allows you to pick the accommodation that is right for you. We offer three different Easter Island hotels that are each uniquely designed for a relaxing escape while you explore this historical region.

Day 1 - Arrival at Easter Island, Chile

Upon arrival at the Mataveri airport on Easter Island, transfer to the chosen hotel with a representative who will help with the check-in procedures. Later, drive to the resto red Ahu Akivi with 7 Moais, built in the middle of the island. Legend tells that these statues are representing the 7 explorers who were sent to Rapa Nui by the king Hotu Matua and are the only ones facing the ocean. Proceed to the un-restored Ahu Hanga Poukura. Then visit the topknot-quarry Puna Pau with its red scoria stone, where all the Pukaos were made. Also visit the ceremonial site of Tahai with 3 Ahus and restored statues, remains of boathouses, a boat ramp and other features. Here see the only statue with eyes and hopefully a stunning sunset. After all this excitement, head back to the hotel for a good evenings rest.

Afterwards drive to the ceremonial village of Orongo. Here is where the birdman competition took place and you can see the spectacular petroglyphs related to this culture. See the 3 islets Motu Nui, Motu Iti and Motu Kao Kao opposite the coast. Drive down again to Ahu Vinapu (not restored) for some still proof of the influence of pre-inca architects in Easter Island culture. The day's last stop is Ana Kai Tangata cave with paintings. Then its back to hotel for the night.

Next visit Ahu Tongariki (restored with 15 Moais), the most recent and largest restoration on the island. Drive to the east coast and visit Ahu Te Pito Kura and the “Navel of the World”.
