Day 1 - Arrive Flores, Guatemala
Our local representatives will meet you at Maya World International Airport (new official name of the Flores/Tikal Airport). Transfer to hotel located on the shore of Lake Peten Itza, only 5 minutes away.Accommodations: Hotel Peten Esplendido

Day 2 - Tikal National Park
Spend the Day in the company of an expert Maya guide exploring the magnificent achievements of these fascinating ancient people. At its height Tikal was home to over 100,000 Maya and was a cultural and political center. It becomes easy to imagine life in the city as you explore temples, plazas, multi leveled palaces, ball courts and living areas. Howler and Spider monkeys, coatamundi, are commonly seen while the elusive jaguar and ocelot are know to survive in this protected rainforest reserve. Almost 300 species of bird have been identified in Tikal including toucans, motmots and parrots. At the days end return to your Flores hotel.Many travelers choose to add another night in Flores to further explore the rich diversity of the Peten region. Additional nights cost $125 per night including breakfast.

Day 3 - Flores to Palenque along La Ruta Maya
Depart early for an incredible journey overland and by boat through the pristine rainforest jungles of the Peten to riverside Maya ruins of Yaxchilan and Bonampak. Cross the border into Mexico and travel north to Palenque. Overnight in Palenque.Accommodations: Hotel Villas Kin-ha

Day 4 - Palenque
Enjoy a guided tour of the center of the ancient kingdom of Palenque. Your guides interpret the colorful history of one of the great cities of the Maya, famous for its Temple of the Inscriptions. Mid afternoon transfer to Villahermosa for overnight.Accommodations: Olmeca Plaza

Arrival & Departure: The Tikal and Palenque Escape begins in Flores, Guatemala. Please plan flights to arrive anytime on day 1 of the itinerary. The trip will end in Villahermosa. Schedule flights to depart anytime on day 5 from Villahermosa International Airport.
Payment & Cancellation: In order to confirm this trip, a deposit of $500 is required at the time of booking. A Reservation Form, which includes a release of liability, must be completed and signed by all travelers. The balance of the trip price is due 90 days before the departure date. Guests who must cancel their trip for any reason must do so in writing. Cancellations are subject to the following fees, based on number of days prior to departure:
Up to 91 days - 50% of deposit
90 to 31 days - 50% of total trip cost
30 to 0 days - 100% of total trip cost

Activities: The Tikal and Palenque Escape includes a boat ride through rainforest jungle as well as exensive walking among ruins.
Qualifications: Within Tikal National Park, distances between temples are significant so travelers should be prepared to walk several miles while touring the ruins.
