The Kenai Backcountry Lodge offers a special opportunity for travelers to intimately experience the wilderness of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. The lodge was originally established as a historic hunting lodge in the 1930s. Then later became a nature and wildlife destination after the creation of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. Kenai Backcountry Lodge has worked hard to protect and preserve the natural environment on the lodge property. In accordance with these goals, the overall capacity accommodates only 16-18 guests at a time.
This is truly an authentic Alaskan wilderness experience at a historic and ecologically managed log lodge surrounded by a million acres of designated Wilderness. Located on glacier-carved Skilak Lake and accessible only by boat, step back in time to Alaskan life 75 years ago at the Kenai Backcountry Lodge. With the addition of a few more modern creature comforts, the lodge experience will reinvigorate your love for the solitude and peace you find in nature.
