Tahoe City, CA > Guests can save up to $3,000 per couple with eco-tourism specialist AdventureSmith Explorations on a new adventure cruise featuring the scenery, glaciers and wildlife of Alaska's Prince William Sound. Guests explore up close on hikes and paddles, while enjoying each night in the comfort of a small cruise ship aboard the “sport utility vessel” M/V Wilderness Adventurer.
The 69-passenger ship is outfitted with a fleet of sea kayaks, a watersport launch platform and excursion landing craft, allowing access to the region’s rugged wilderness. Along the 9-day itinerary, highlights include the massive Columbia Glacier and College Fjord as well as the town of Valdez, nestled at the base of snow capped peaks and home to the terminus of the trans Alaskan pipeline. Guests can anticipate unexpected stops and wildlife sightings along the itinerary that are at the heart of a true adventure cruise.
Depending on glacial activity, wildlife and weather, the ship’s Captain has the flexibility to adjust the itinerary to accommodate prime wildlife viewing, sea kayaking and hikes ashore. Passengers may visit remote places such as Dangerous Passage, the rarely visited Chenega Glacier or Beartrap Bay. Each day offers new opportunities for up close exploration by ship, on foot or in a sea kayak, while each night features fine dining, interpretive lectures and deluxe accommodations.
Cruises depart weekly from June 10 to August 5, with prices starting at $1,969 per person after $1,500 discount and there is no single supplement.
