Tahoe City, CA > This spring, small ship cruise specialist, AdventureSmith Explorations, is offering a savings of $1,200 per couple on its 11-day Galapagos cruises featuring the 12- to 32-passenger Evolution, Lammer Law, Alta or Parranda. Itineraries vary slightly depending on the vessel, but each cruise is designed to bring travelers into intimate contact with the unique ecosystems of the Galapagos Islands and the creatures that inhabit them, while cruising in comfort with a small number of fellow adventurers.
The journey begins with a guided tour of colonial Quito, Ecuador's capital city and designated World Heritage Site. Guests then enjoy an included, scenic flight to the Galapagos Islands where they board their small ship for eight days of cruising. Cruises feature a full range of daily activities that bring passengers up-close to the unique flora and fauna of the region including blue-footed boobies, giant tortoise and Galapagos penguins. Passengers may also enjoy snorkeling with sea lions, relaxing on the beach and hikes ashore led by a team of naturalist guides that share their in-depth knowledge of the islands of the archipelago.
To receive $1,200 off per couple, travel must take place before May 31, 2006. The 11-day program includes a city tour and three night's accommodation in Quito, one week's cruise accommodations, onboard meals and off-vessel activities plus round trip flights from mainland Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands. Depending on the vessel and date of departure, rates start at $3,350 per person not including the spring savings. With the savings, cruises start at $2,750 per person.
