Save Money, Save the Planet:

Cost-effective Eco Travel with the Whole Family

Tahoe City, CA > As families gear up for their summer vacations, AdventureSmith Explorations is offering eco-friendly adventures at family-friendly prices on select departures to Alaska and the Galapagos. And best of all, through the company’s Carbon Free campaign, each traveler’s carbon footprint is calculated and offset by investments in climate friendly projects around the world.

Alaska: Three Ways for Families to Save

  1. On a nine-day Alaska Family Safari, families explore their way through Alaska's diverse wilderness in style, visiting the original and recently renovated Kenai Riverside Lodge, exploring the vast wilderness of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, and enjoying an in-depth deluxe camping adventure in Denali National Park. On any 2009 Alaska Family Safari, kids aged six to 18 years old travel for 50% off the regular youth price. Rates for adults are $3,995; rates for kids are $1,748 (50% the regular youth price).

  1. If exploration by sea is the preferred method of travel, AdventureSmith Explorations is offering 25% off a full charter cruise aboard the 12-passenger yacht Discovery. At $375 per person, per day, it’s the perfect option for extended families or two to three families traveling together, to enjoy a blend of luxury, comfort and utility with active and personalized exploration of Alaska’s Prince William Sound, viewing glaciers, fjords and abundant wildlife, with daily hiking and kayaking adventures. Rates are $4500 per day (25% off the regular charter rate) and include the fully crewed, 12-passenger Discovery plus accommodations, meals and guided excursions.

  1. Also by sea, kids under 12 save 25% and adults save $500 each on the eight-day Alaska Kids in Nature Cruise, departing June 19, 2009 aboard the 36-passenger Safari Explorer. Utilizing a luxury yacht as a schoolhouse, a naturalist as the teacher, and the wildlife-rich waters of Alaska's Inside Passage as a laboratory, kids and adults alike will certainly enjoy this style of learning. Families explore Alaska’s rugged landscape by kayak, hop shore-to-shore by Zodiac, hike among ancient glacial ice and temperate rain forests, enjoy a full-scale picnic and hot springs excursion, view whales and other sea life, try their hand at fishing and crabbing, and listen to the musical antics of marine life via an underwater hydrophone. This is an exceptional experience for the entire family at exceptional savings. Adult rates start at $5,395 (not including $500 savings); kids under 12 save 25% off the regular adult rate.

The Galapagos Islands: Four Ways for Families to Save

Each departure incorporates the company’s “Young Pirates Program,” designed for children six to 12 years old to fully absorb the Galapagos at their own pace. 2. Kids age 11 and under save 50% on select summer family cruises to the Galapagos Islands aboard the 36-passenger yacht Evolution. About AdventureSmith Explorations
AdventureSmith Explorations specializes in small ship cruise expeditions and wilderness tours. Company founder Todd Smith pioneered the concept of wilderness cruising – combining the comforts of a small cruise ship with the adventure of sea kayaking and exploring ashore in remote wilderness areas. Founded in 2003, AdventureSmith Explorations strives to create connections with the world's exotic natural environments and native cultures through travel, combining fun and exciting activities such as sea kayaking, hiking, small ship cruising and rafting in places not found on more conventional itineraries; extraordinary, off-the-beaten-path places in such destinations as Alaska, the Caribbean, Costa Rica, Belize, Ecuador and the Galapagos, Guatemala, the Arctic, Antarctica and New Zealand.

In addition to the company’s Carbon Free Cruising campaign, it is AdventureSmith’s mission to give something back to the individuals, communities and environments encountered on every trip through connecting travelers with a network of grassroots and global nonprofit partners worldwide including the Alaska Natural History Association, Neotropica Foundation, and Galapagos Conservancy, among others.
