Day 1 - FRI - Baltra to Las Bachas Beach

Fly from mainland Ecuador (Quito or Guayaquil) to Baltra, with AEROGAL Airlines, where you're met by Tip Top's guides. Take a short bus ride to the pier to board the yacht. As the crew weighs anchor, enjoy your first orientation and a light snack. Disembark on Playa Las Bachas, a site known for its flamingo lagoon. During all excursions, your guide will explain details about the lives of the birds and animals. There is optional time for those who would like to swim and/or snorkel. In the evening there is an orientation about the Galapagos Islands, their origin and evolution. Sip on a welcome cocktail with the entire crew, then sit for dinner.

Day 2 - SAT - Sullivan Bay (Santiago) & Bartolome

After breakfast make a wet landing on Sullivan Bay, a perfect place to get a feel of the volcanic origin of the islands. For those who would like to swim and/or snorkel, there will be time to explore the waters. Return to the boat for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, make a dry landing on Bartolomé Island, to hike to the summit; during the hike observe colonies of marine iguanas and lava lizards. On the summit see an impressive view of the surrounding islands, including the eroded tuff cone of Pinnacle Rock. Return to the yacht for a delicious dinner and nightly orientation.

Day 3 - SUN - Prince Phillip's Steps & Darwin Bay (Genovesa)

Enjoy breakfast before taking a panga ride to a dry landing on Prince Phillips’s Steps (Barranco). Walk and observe the interesting lives of the birds here, then it's back aboard Tip Top II or III for a delicious lunch. Later in the afternoon, make a wet landing on Darwin Bay to walk and observe frigatebirds, herons, mockingbirds, boobies, shorebirds, turtles, marine iguanas, etc. There is optional time for swimming, snorkeling or kayaking. Eat dinner on the yacht, then listen to an orientation about conservation efforts to protect the Galapagos Islands.

Day 4 - MON - James Bay & Buccaneer Cove (Santiago)

After breakfast, make a wet landing on James Bay (Puerto Egas) to walk and observe sponges, snails, hermit crabs, a variety of shore birds, barnacles and the endemic four-eyed blenny, marine iguanas and sea lions. Swim, snorkel or kayak if you choose here, then return to the boat for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, navigate around Buccaneer Cove (Caleta Bucanero), an area of steep cliffs and dark beaches. The cliffs and pinnacle are used as nesting areas by several species of seabirds. This was a popular place for 17th and 18th century buccaneers to careen their vessels. Swimming, snorkeling or kayaking is again optional. Then make a wet landing to walk along a coastal trail to visit the abandoned salt mines. Return to the yacht for dinner and the nightly orientation.

Day 5 - TUE - Punta Vicente Roca (Isabela) & Punta Espinoza (Fernandina)

Take a panga ride at Punta Vicente Roca after breakfast to observe plenty of sea lions, marine iguanas, blue-footed and masked boobies and flightless cormorants. There is spectacular snorkeling and swimming here, then come back aboard for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, make a dry landing on Punta Espinoza to observe and see a large colony of sea lions, marine iguanas and the flightless cormorants and clumps of lava cactus. Return to Tip Top II or III for dinner and the nightly orientation.

Day 6 - WED - Urbina Bay, Tagus Cove & Elizabeth Bay (Isabela)

After breakfast, make a wet landing on Urbina Bay to take a walk and observe a coral area, land iguanas, flightless cormorants and giant tortoises. Optional time for those who would like to swim, snorkel and/or kayak. Then make a panga ride on Tagus Cove, a protected cove between the shoulders of two volcanic craters that protect it from the open sea. Observe penguins, marine iguanas, sea lions and a variety of birds including flightless cormorants and blue-footed boobies. Swim, snorkel and/or kayak if you wish, then return to the yacht for lunch. In the afternoon, make a panga ride around the islets of Elizabeth Bay to see marine iguanas, penguins, marine turtles, seabirds and shorebirds, herons and blue-footed boobies. Return to the yacht for dinner and the nightly orientation.

Day 7 - THU - Sierra Negra Volcano, Tortoise Breeding Center & Wall of Tears (Isabela)

After breakfast, make a dry landing to the islet Las Tintoreras, the islet has a small bay of completely calm turquoise waters and there you can observe hundreds of marine iguanas, sea turtles, sea lions, Galapagos penguins, rays and white-tip sharks. Then make an expedition to Sierra Negra Volcano, considered the oldest of the volcanoes on Isabela. The crater of Sierra Negra a six-mile diameter and it’s the second largest in the world; its last eruption occurred in 2005. The sulfur, iron and the cooled magma make up a colorful landscape. Your adventure here begins with a 45-minutes bus ride to the highlands of Isabela, arriving at the “Paradero Sierra Negra." From here walk through the slopes of the volcano or explore by horseback for an added cost. The trail leads to Volcan Chico (on the northeast of Sierra Negra Volcano), a fissure composed of scum and lava. This fissure had its last eruption in 1979 and the volcanic activity lasted for a week. From here take in the amazing view north, and if the day is clear a majestic view of the Perry Isthmus, a surrounding island. This expedition allows you to step through volcanic features and over lava flows formed in very recent years. You can also see the formations of petrified lava of many different colors and textures and fumaroles scattered throughout the area. Return to the yacht for a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon visit the Breeding Center “Arnaldo Tupiza” to observe tortoise of different ages and sizes (in total there are some 330 between juvenile and adult tortoises), learn about their reproduction and see different native plants. Then visit the Wall of Tears, a historic place in the Galapagos Islands. The site was for 13 years a penal colony, where the prisoners built a wall with huge blocks of lava as punishment. Here observe lava lizards, Galapagos finches and hawks. Before returning to the yacht visit Humedales to see a series of lagoons, mangrove species, flamingos and numerous migratory birds. Return to the yacht for dinner and the nightly orientation.

Day 8 - FRI - Twin Craters, Highlands (Santa Cruz) & Disembark Baltra

After breakfast , disembark early in Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island for a visit to the Charles Darwin Station and its Interpretive Center. Then your guides take you directly to the Baltra Airport for return flights.

Activities

Snorkeling and kayaking are available while on the Tip Top II & III cruise without additional cost. Tip Top II and Tip Top III yachts provide masks, snorkels and fins (sizes 3-5 to 11-13). Each passenger will receive a bag to store and transport the equipment for the duration of the cruise. There are two kayaks on board to use.

Included

Air ticket from Quito/Guayaquil to Galapagos (roundtrip), accommodation on board (double or single occupancy), transfers between Baltra Airport and the yacht in the Galapagos, full pension (3 meals a day and 2 snacks), excursions on the islands with a bilingual naturalist guide, snorkeling equipment and use of kayaks.

Exclusions

Galapagos National Park Entrance ($100), Transit Control Card ($10), alcoholic drinks, tips, personal expenses. Wetsuits are available to rent upon request; it's necessary to notify AdventureSmith at least one month prior to the cruise. Rates are calculated with a cost per gallon of diesel at US $3; if prices increase, the difference will be charged as an extra fuel surcharge, due at final payment for the cruise. A fuel surcharge is in effect for all 2014 and 2015 departures. Per person fuel surcharge varies by boat and trip length: Tip Top II 4 day $26, 5 day $35, 8 day $61, 11 day $87, 15 day $122; Tip Top III 4 day $28, 5 day $38, 8 day $66, 11 day $95, 15 day $133.

Rooms may be booked for single occupancy with a single supplement; contact AdventureSmith Explorations for pricing. Rooms cannot accommodate triple occupancy.

Families & Children

For every two adults that book, one child that is 11 years or younger receives a 10% discount. Not applicable/combinable with other special offers.

Payment & Cancellation

A nonrefundable cruise deposit of $1,000 per person is required at the time of booking. A Reservation Form, which includes a release of liability, must be completed and signed by all travelers. Final payment is due 90 days prior to departure. Guests who must cancel their trip for any reason must do so in writing. For cancellations received 60 days or less prior to departure, the full trip price will be applied as the cancellation penalty.
