Un-Cruise Adventures is the chameleon of our small ship cruise operators. With its fleet of eight ships with three distinct styles of adventure – Active, Luxury and Heritage – Un-Cruise has the ability to offer something for every type of traveler. Its diverse itineraries span from Alaska’s Inside Passage to the Columbia River to Mexico's Sea of Cortés and the Hawaiian Islands, and its upscale yachts, expedition vessels and turn-of-the-century replica steamer offer a home base to 22 to 88 guests.
Un-Cruise Adventures History
The concept of Un-Cruise Adventures began in 1996 when American Safari Cruises was established and pioneered yacht cruising in Alaska, offering upscale, active cruises aboard small yachts. In 2008, American Safari Cruises gained a new parent company when its former CEO Dan Blanchard (who headed American Safari Cruises from 2001 through 2008) formed InnerSea Discoveries with partner Tim Jacox and purchased American Safari Cruises. In January 2013, the company changed its name to Un-Cruise Adventures.
Un-Cruise’s executive team, Principal and CEO Dan Blanchard and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tim Jacox, has 60 years of combined experience in yacht and small-ship cruising. Blanchard was the former vice president of operations at Cruise West and a captain for Glacier Bay Lodge cruises; he has been a licensed captain since 1981. Jacox spent 20 years at Cruise West, including 12 years as vice president of marine and land operations and about 8 years managing sales and marketing. Un-Cruise Adventures is headquartered at historic Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle, Washington.
Un-Cruise Adventures offers three styles of small ship cruising aboard a fleet of eight small ships in its current destinations of Alaska’s Inside Passage, Mexico's Sea of Cortés, Coastal Washington and British Columbia, the Columbia and Snake Rivers, and the Hawaiian Islands: Active Adventures have an emphasis on hands-on, active explorations like hiking, paddleboarding and kayaking and are offered aboard three different expedition vessels, the 76-guest Wilderness Discoverer, 60-guest Wilderness Adventurer and 76-guest Wilderness Explorer. Luxury Adventures feature the same activities with inclusive, upscale yet casual cruising aboard four yachts, the 86-guest Safari Endeavour, 64-guest Safari Voyager, 36-guest Safari Explorer and 22-guest Safari Quest. Expect included alcoholic beverages, a complimentary massage, luxury cabins and fine dining. Heritage Adventures focus on history and culture, featuring inclusive cruising and Living History programs aboard the 88-guest S.S. Legacy, a replica steamer.
In short, Un-Cruise Adventures has a style of small ship cruising for virtually every traveler. Un-Cruise's itineraries make great family trips, with special Kids in Nature departures providing special discounts and programs for ages 12 and under. The company is known for its passionate guides, crew and special guests, with U.S. Forest Service wilderness rangers sometimes kayaking right up to Un-Cruise boats to hop aboard and talk about natural history and their own special bond with the land. Birding, marine biology, photography and wine themed departures allow guests with special interests to book an even more customized cruise.

Un-Cruise Adventures & AdventureSmith Explorations
AdventureSmith Explorations founder and director, Todd Smith, has had a long friendship and professional relationship with the management at Un-Cruise Adventures. We are proud to have worked with them since our founding and to have grown together over the years. The ship outline cruising along the footer of our website is Un-Cruise Adventure's Safari Endeavour. We would like to thank Un-Cruise for allowing us to use the likeness of their ship on our website. And it is a daily reminder of the relationship we have with this important partner.
