Why Choose a Galapagos Yacht Charter
A full-boat Galapagos charter has many advantages over an independently booked cruise. Galapagos charter cruises offer an exclusive, flexible vacation tailored specifically to your group’s interests and needs. Think snorkeling, kayaking, scuba diving, glass-bottom boat tours, longer hikes, gourmet meals—whatever experience your group wishes, we can find you a match.
Having your family and friends close while experiencing the powerful and breathtaking moments that the Galapagos Islands has to offer is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Travelers share in the joy of snorkeling with charismatic megafauna, stand in awe together observing colonies of endemic marine iguanas and relax among friends in the comfortable common spaces of the ship after a long day exploring. Charters also live on as friends and families reconnect over their shared experiences long after disembarkation.
Choosing your charter with AdventureSmith means choosing an award-winning company that boasts an incredible, vetted selection of Galapagos Island charters. We have decades of experience offering Galapagos charter cruises and you’ll never pay more thanks to our competitive charter rates and partnerships. Choosing Your Itinerary
Galapagos cruise itineraries are set in advance by the Galapagos National Park, so it is important to understand if your ship and its route on your dates include the landing sites and experiences your group is seeking. Our Galapagos experts are intimately familiar with the islands and the various itineraries and can help you select the perfect route.
With a charter, there may be an opportunity to alter the itinerary or request specific landing sites. Adding SCUBA diving or surfing to your trip, meeting with a group of local kids or taking a behind-the-scenes tour at the Charles Darwin Research Station are all possibilities with Galapagos charters. We can help arrange these custom experiences for your charter group that are not available to independent travelers in the Galapagos. Booking well in advance increases the likelihood of customizing a Galapagos itinerary.
Galapagos Yachts Available for Charter
AdventureSmith offers a wide selection of Galapagos charter yachts, sailboats and small ships to help you find the best vessel for your group’s interest, ability and budget. These charter ships range in price and offerings, but all include excellent guides, off-ship excursions and comfortable onboard amenities.
We reserve only the best first-class small ships and yachts, providing unparalleled access to the visitor sites in the archipelago as well as the highest level of safety and comfort for our travelers. Our charter yachts and small ships range from 12 to 100 guests, and include just about every style: from luxury catamarans and historic vessels to hands-on sailboats and family-friendly expedition ships.
Crewed Galapagos Charters
All of our Galapagos ships are fully crewed charters, outfitted with an experienced and professional captain and crew. We do not offer bare-boat charters in the Galapagos Islands. We believe that the captain, guides, chef and crew are an integral part of expedition cruising and that their experience and expertise are essential to a safe and successful voyage.
When to Book a Galapagos Charter
Charters are typically planned and contracted at least one year in advance of the cruise departure date, but as long as space is available a small ship can still be chartered. Most charters should be secured a year or more in advance. Holidays including Christmas, New Year’s and Easter should be booked two years in advance.
Galapagos Charter Rates
In addition to exclusivity, price is a big advantage of a Galapagos yacht charter. The trips listed on this Galapagos yacht charter page are showing rates per person, for travelers booking individual staterooms on prescheduled departures. But when you book a full boat charter, each person will save 10 to 30% off these regular per-person cruise rates.
Charter Terms & Conditions
Terms and conditions are sometimes more strict with charters than they are for individual bookings. Expect to pay a charter rate that remains the same, whether or not you have enough travelers to fill all the staterooms. Cancellation terms usually require a nonrefundable deposit and payments as the cruise date approaches. Some charter agreements require that one person be responsible for signing the charter agreement. Group travel insurance policies are highly recommended when considering charter cruises. Our experts will work with you and your group to make the charter process seamless and transparent.
Galapagos Yacht Charter vs. a Group Booking
A private Galapagos cruise charter secures an entire ship for one group and offers all the advantages outlined in this Galapagos charter guide. Group bookings for groups of 10 or more travelers are also available. Galapagos group bookings can offer additional savings but don’t offer the privacy or customization that a charter can offer. Consider a charter if your group is large enough and you want the intimacy of a private cruise. On the other hand, consider a group booking if you prefer a larger ship and your group size is not enough for a full-boat charter.
Trip Extensions, Land Arrangements, Group Flights & Fees
Our experts can help with all the extra elements of travel that go beyond time on the ship. We can arrange group rates and flights from Quito or Guayaquil, Ecuador, to the Galapagos Islands, paying the Galapagos National Park Fee and INGALA tourist card in advance, pre- and post-cruise hotel bookings and land extensions. Whether your group is all traveling together or if they plan to arrive into Ecuador independently, we can also assist with pick-up transfers.
Typically we advise travelers to arrive into Ecuador two nights prior to their Galapagos yacht charter cruise (see How to Choose Your Galapagos Cruise for details), and we can offer special group rates and custom trip planning for all pre- and post-cruise arrangements. Many guests will consider a trip extension to Ecuador’s Amazon or Machu Picchu, as we offer a complete menu of travel packages to Ecuador and Peru.
