From: $400
3 days • Level 1 (Details)

Puno & Lake Titicaca
The Puno and Lake Titicaca extension is designed to complement your travel to Machu Picchu or other Peru travel. Lake Titicaca straddles Peru and Bolivia, is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and, at 13,120’, is the highest navigable lake in the world. Its landscapes of indescribable beauty have been the origin and cradle of pre-Hispanic civilizations such as: Tiahuanaco, Collas and Ayma ras. Puno’s wealth of indigenous dance, arts and culture makes it the folklore capital of Peru. The native residents of Puno are the ethnic Aymara and they make up 13% of Peru’s population. They are fully adapted to this high-altitude environ and many of them are dedicated to the elaboration of beautiful crafts and fine alpaca wool fabrics.

Highlights of the Peru and Lake Titicaca tour include visiting the floating reed islands of the Uros and the indigenous communities Taquile. Many of the inhabitants of the islands still practice the old traditions of fishing, trapping and living on the totora reeds.

Our Peru travel experts can also customize your Puno and Lake Titicaca tour to add more days, enjoy kayaking on Lake Titicaca or travel to other regions within Peru.
