The 42-guest Coral Expeditions II, formerly known as Coral Princess II, operates year-round on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. At just 115 feet in length and with a shallow 8-foot draft, she is the ideal small ship for discovering the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. The Coral Expeditions II is small enough to allow snorkeling directly from the ship, yet equipped with the facilities of a much larger vessel.

Activities Aboard Coral Expeditions II

Coral Expeditions II is equipped with a glass-bottom boat, affectionately named “The Glassy,” and interactive touch tank. From the swim platform, guests can enjoy snorkeling and feeding the colorful fish of the Great Barrier Reef. Three double kayaks are also available for exploring out-of-the-way spaces; they can easily be maneuvered to slowly glide over coral gardens and get close to wildlife.

On its daily excursions, the glass-bottom boat boards directly from the ship’s main deck, before the hydraulic platform gently lowers passengers and the boat into the water. The Glassy accommodates up to 20 guests at a time along with a qualified marine biologist. This special excursion boat’s magnified glass panels enable guests to view the reef and marine life in an up close and personal way, without the need to get into the water.
